Exploring and Learning Amateur Radio

About

Hi, I’m Alex. I first became interested in Amateur Radio during the Covid pandemic, and I got my Technician license in the fall of 2020 (operating as KN6LNW). I poked around the 2m/70cm bands, played with APRS and packet radio, participated in a VHF contest, and then fell out of the hobby for several years.

In 2023 I took a renewed interest in the hobby and wanted to attempt HF contacts over 10m. I made a 3d printed dipole and took it into the field. The first day I made a voice contact with an operator in New Zealand and was hooked. After several months of being limited to 10M and 6M, I got my General license. Around the same time I changed my callsign to N6ADW.

We live in a high-rise condo, which makes getting on the air a challenge. I do most of my SSB work in parks, and operate digital (FT8) at home.
